PepsiCo Appoints Brittany Viera as CMO of North America Beverages

PepsiCo has named Brittany Viera as its new Chief Marketing Officer for North America Beverages, overseeing a vast portfolio that includes Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, and Aquafina. The appointment marks a strategic move aimed at strengthening brand equity and accelerating growth across one of the company’s most competitive regions.

Viera steps into the role following the promotion of Greg Lyons, who previously held the position and has now been elevated to Chief Commercial Officer for PepsiCo Beverages North America. In her new role, Viera will report directly to Lyons and be tasked with overseeing omnichannel marketing strategy, brand building, and consumer engagement for all beverage categories across the U.S. and Canada.

Having joined PepsiCo in 2008, Viera brings more than 15 years of brand marketing experience within the company. Most recently, she led marketing for Gatorade and Propel, where she was credited with driving significant growth. Under her leadership, Gatorade expanded its presence beyond traditional sports drinks, introducing innovations like Gatorade Water, Fast Twitch, and the premium Gatorade Fit range, reflecting a broader push toward health-conscious hydration.

Viera’s appointment arrives as PepsiCo intensifies its focus on performance marketing, personalization, and cultural relevance—areas the company sees as key differentiators in a crowded marketplace. PepsiCo also continues to invest in new product development and rebranding efforts, evidenced by recent campaigns from Gatorade featuring NFL stars and the refresh of Propel to align with wellness-driven consumers.

He highlighted her ability to blend brand storytelling with data-led marketing as a crucial asset for the division moving forward.

As the beverage category faces shifting consumer preferences and rising competition from health-oriented startups, Viera’s leadership will be critical in steering PepsiCo’s North American beverage strategy toward long-term relevance and profitability.
