Mondelez India’s Dev Sharma Retires After Pivotal Two-Decade Tenure

Dev Sharma, Director of Human Resources for Mondelez India’s Integrated Supply Chain, has retired after a 22-year career with the company. Over his tenure, Sharma played a central role in shaping the HR strategy for the supply chain function and was instrumental in steering the transformation of key business operations across India, China, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Sharma began his journey with Mondelez (formerly Cadbury India) in 2002, progressively taking on roles of increasing responsibility and eventually becoming a regional HR business partner for the ISC (Integrated Supply Chain) function. His tenure coincided with significant phases of growth and structural evolution for the company, particularly across markets like India and Greater China.

According to industry sources, Sharma was a strong advocate of HR-business integration during a time of heightened operational changes, especially following Kraft Foods’ acquisition of Cadbury in 2010. He contributed to aligning business needs with talent strategy, facilitating smoother transitions during large-scale supply chain optimization efforts.

Mondelez has seen accelerated investments in India’s manufacturing and supply chain footprint in recent years, and Sharma’s leadership helped support this growth through agile workforce planning, labor relations, and leadership development initiatives. His efforts enabled Mondelez to build and scale supply chain capabilities in line with both local and export demands—an increasingly critical factor in FMCG competitiveness.

Sharma also played a pivotal role in embedding a culture of safety and operational excellence across Mondelez factories, many of which cater to both domestic consumption and global supply chains. His retirement marks the exit of one of the most seasoned HR leaders in India’s FMCG sector with deep operational and strategic insight into manufacturing ecosystems.

As FMCG firms continue facing pressures around cost efficiency, labor dynamics, and talent retention in supply chain functions, Sharma’s career stands as a blueprint for integration of HR within core business operations. Mondelez is yet to announce his successor.
