Ferrero Announces New UK & Ireland Managing Director Amid Strategic Growth Plans
Ferrero has appointed Jim McNeill as the new Managing Director of its UK and Ireland business, marking a significant leadership change for the confectionery giant as it continues its expansion across key FMCG categories. McNeill, who officially steps into the role on May 1st, brings over 25 years of senior leadership experience across major consumer brands, with a focus on accelerating growth and building category share.
He succeeds Jason Sutherland, who is moving into the role of Global Customer Development Senior Vice President. Sutherland has been instrumental in overseeing Ferrero’s commercial transformation in the UK and Ireland, including driving diversification beyond confectionery and strengthening relationships with retail partners.
McNeill’s appointment comes at a time when Ferrero is broadening its footprint across snacking, biscuits, and spreads. The company’s UK division has seen consistent double-digit growth over recent years, with brands such as Nutella, Kinder, and Thorntons playing central roles. McNeill will be tasked with sustaining this momentum and deepening Ferrero’s consumer connection across its expanding portfolio.
Commenting on the appointment, Sutherland said: “Jim’s commercial insight and strategic mindset make him an excellent choice to lead Ferrero’s next phase in the UK and Ireland. His track record for growing household-name brands aligns with our ambitions across both core and emerging categories.”
McNeill joins Ferrero from Bacardi, where he served as Managing Director for UK & Ireland and previously led markets in Asia Pacific. His career also includes leadership roles at Coca-Cola Enterprises and Diageo, giving him a robust understanding of the FMCG landscape, retailer engagement, and brand development.
Ferrero’s future strategy includes continuing its investment in local manufacturing and deepening its presence in high-growth categories. With the UK among the group’s top five global markets, McNeill’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in aligning global capabilities with local innovation and execution.
“Ferrero has built an impressive foundation in the UK and Ireland, and I’m excited to lead the next chapter,” McNeill added. “We have a clear opportunity to strengthen our market position and continue delivering quality, trusted products to consumers.”
