Ferrero to Invest $45M in Ontario Plant Expansion, Boosting North American Production

Global confectionery leader Ferrero is set to bolster its North American manufacturing footprint with a $45-million CAD investment to expand its Brantford, Ontario facility. The move is aimed at increasing capacity to support long-term growth and meet growing demand across Canada and the U.S.

The expansion will add 18,000 square feet to the existing plant, which currently produces popular brands including Ferrero Rocher, Crunch, and Kinder Bueno. The Brantford site—already home to more than 1,000 employees—has become a key hub in Ferrero’s North American operations since it opened in 2022, following the acquisition of U.S.-based Fannie May and the former Nestlé Canada chocolate business line in 2018.

“Ferrero has successfully grown its presence in Canada over the last decade,” said Marcio P. Gonçalves, Chief Operations Officer for Ferrero North America. “This latest investment reflects our deep commitment to the Brantford community and to scaling our capabilities in the region.”

The Ontario expansion follows Ferrero’s broader strategy to strengthen manufacturing capabilities across North America. Last year, the company announced construction of a Kinder Bueno production line in Bloomington, Illinois—its first North American facility dedicated to the product—slated to begin operations later this year. Ferrero has also expanded logistics and packaging operations in Georgia and opened new distribution hubs in Pennsylvania and Arizona.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford lauded the latest investment, stating that it demonstrates confidence in the province’s skilled workforce and business-friendly environment. The government of Ontario has supported the expansion through investment attraction programming, highlighting the importance of local partnerships in FMCG manufacturing growth.

For FMCG industry stakeholders, Ferrero’s expansion underscores an increasing shift toward regional scaling to meet consumer demand and improve supply chain efficiency. With North America emerging as a key focus area, the Brantford development reinforces Ferrero’s long-term commitment to domestic production and market responsiveness.
