Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Taps o9 Solutions to Bolster Supply Chain Resilience

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. (CCBJI), the country’s largest Coca-Cola bottling partner, has partnered with o9 Solutions to enhance its supply chain planning and execution through advanced digital capabilities.

Announced earlier this month, the collaboration is aimed at optimizing CCBJI’s complex production and logistics network across Japan. By leveraging o9’s Digital Brain platform, the bottler seeks to improve product availability, minimize waste, and boost responsiveness to rapidly changing market conditions.

“With increasing volatility and the need to balance efficiency and service levels, enhancing our supply planning with digital tools is essential,” stated Masaki SHIRAHASE, Executive Officer of CCBJI’s SCM unit. “We’re excited to scale our transformation with o9 Solutions.”

CCBJI operates an extensive network, supplying approximately 700 million cases of Coca-Cola beverages annually across 35 prefectures. The company has faced mounting challenges around demand variability and inventory management, particularly in the face of evolving consumer preferences, climate disruptions, and geopolitical pressures.

o9 Solutions’ platform allows CCBJI to drive end-to-end visibility, scenario-based planning, and real-time decision-making — capabilities increasingly vital in today’s complex FMCG environment. With machine learning–driven forecasts and integrated planning features, the technology will support both mid-term and long-term supply planning cycles.

The deployment follows a successful pilot and will focus first on mid-term supply planning, with plans to expand coverage across manufacturing, logistics, and inventory planning. Importantly, the platform’s flexibility is seen as a key asset in aligning multiple cross-functional teams through a unified data model and planning interface.

For the FMCG sector, the partnership reflects a broader shift toward AI-enabled, demand-driven supply chains. As brands navigate unpredictable demand cycles and sustainability targets, investment in advanced planning platforms is emerging as a priority. o9’s work with global FMCG leaders continues to demonstrate how data-driven planning can reduce costs, improve customer service levels, and increase supply chain agility.
