Ferrero Commits $284 Million to Expand Ontario Production Site

Ferrero has announced a major investment of CAD $214.4 million (approximately USD $284 million) to expand its production facility in Brantford, Ontario—underscoring its long-term commitment to the North American market and signaling growth opportunities in its confectionery and snack portfolio.

The project will add nearly 34,500 square meters of manufacturing space and support the production of Kinder Bueno, one of Ferrero’s fastest-growing brands in North America. The expansion is expected to create 200 new skilled jobs, further strengthening the company’s footprint in the region and contributing positively to the local economy.

Since establishing operations in Brantford in 2006, Ferrero has invested over CAD $350 million in the facility. This latest investment is backed by support from the Government of Ontario, reflecting the strategic importance of advanced food manufacturing to the province’s economy.

Currently, Ferrero Canada employs over 1,100 people and counts the Brantford site as a key hub in its North American supply chain. As demand for the Kinder brand continues to grow, localized production will help the company improve supply chain efficiencies, reduce lead times, and meet evolving consumer expectations.

“This expansion reaffirms our dedication to making high-quality products in Canada for Canadian and North American consumers,” said Mario Luisetti, Managing Director of Industrial Division for Ferrero North America. “It is a testament to the talent we’ve found in Ontario and the strong public-private collaboration that supports innovation and manufacturing growth.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford also welcomed the announcement, noting that the investment will “create more good-paying jobs and help us build a stronger economy.”

The Brantford facility already produces several well-known Ferrero products, including Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, and Nutella. Once the expansion is complete, Ferrero Canada will be one of the first in North America to locally produce Kinder Bueno, aligning with the company’s broader strategy to regionalize manufacturing and streamline distribution.

This move signals a strategic shift by Ferrero toward reinforcing its supply chain resilience and scaling operations in key growth markets, as North American demand for premium and impulse confectionery continues to climb.
