Mondelez to Spotlight Cadbury Dairy Milk’s Recycled Plastic Packaging at Environmental Packaging Summit

Mondelez International is set to outline the progress of its recycled plastic initiative for Cadbury Dairy Milk at the upcoming Environmental Packaging Summit, taking place on 23 April 2025 at The Oval, London. The FMCG giant will share insights into the brand’s packaging transformation as part of its broader sustainability commitments.

Melissa Hockin, Mondelez’s Sustainability Packaging Manager, will lead the session, offering an in-depth look at the company’s switch to recycled plastic and the challenges and milestones in scaling the initiative across its Cadbury Dairy Milk portfolio. The brand’s trial launch of 30% recycled plastic wrap marked a significant step forward in reducing virgin plastic use and carbon emissions.

With packaging waste and circularity high on the FMCG agenda, the summit will also feature key perspectives from across the packaging supply chain, including brands, retailers, regulators, raw material suppliers, and recyclers. The 2025 programme will focus on delivering practical strategies for businesses adapting to incoming legislation, reducing packaging-related emissions, and improving recyclability within the existing infrastructure.

Organised by Packaging News, the Environmental Packaging Summit has become a prominent event for driving change in consumer goods packaging. This year’s edition will address pressing themes such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), deposit return schemes (DRS), plastic taxes, and the commercial viability of emerging materials.

Other headline speakers include representatives from leading supermarket chains and sustainability consultancies, with sessions designed to equip industry professionals with actionable insights into balancing commercial objectives with environmental responsibilities.

Registration for the Environmental Packaging Summit 2025 is now open, with early interest signalling strong engagement from both legacy brands and sustainability-driven innovators in the FMCG sector.

As the demand for demonstrable environmental progress increases, Cadbury Dairy Milk’s recycled plastic journey stands as a case study in collaborative innovation and strategic material transition—setting a precedent for other major FMCG players targeting packaging circularity and regulatory compliance.
