Ferrero Invests $45M in Brantford Facility Expansion to Boost North American Confectionery Production

Global confectionery leader Ferrero Group is significantly scaling up its North American manufacturing capabilities with a $45 million (CAD) investment in its Brantford, Ontario facility. The move underscores Ferrero’s long-term strategy to strengthen its Canadian operations and respond to growing regional demand for its flagship brands.

The investment will expand operations at the 500,000-square-foot facility, previously owned by Nestlé, which Ferrero acquired in 2018. The current project adds additional capacity and upgrades technology to support increased production of Ferrero’s core confectionery offerings, including iconic brands like Ferrero Rocher, Nutella, and Kinder.

Expected to be operational by mid-2025, the Brantford expansion will create approximately 100 new skilled jobs, contributing to Ferrero’s growing workforce in Canada and reinforcing the company’s commitment to local economic development.

“This investment reflects our confidence in the Brantford site and our dedication to meeting consumer demand across North America,” said Alanna Cotton, President and Chief Business Officer of Ferrero North America, in a statement. Cotton emphasized the strategic importance of the expansion in supporting Ferrero’s growth ambitions in the region’s confectionery market.

Ferrero has been aggressively expanding its North American footprint. Over recent years, the company has opened new facilities in Illinois and New Jersey, alongside enhancements to U.S. distribution and innovation centers. The Brantford project adds to this momentum and positions Canada as a vital manufacturing hub within the group’s North American operations.

Local economic development stakeholders, including the City of Brantford and Invest Ontario, played key roles in supporting Ferrero’s investment. The Ontario government welcomed the news, citing the project as a boost to the province’s food manufacturing sector and job creation initiatives.

Ferrero Canada, which has operated since 1974, remains a pivotal player in the country’s confectionery landscape. With this latest expansion, the company continues to align operational scale with shifting consumer preferences and heightened demand across the Canadian and U.S. markets.
